Shamokin Community Gardens & Pocket Parks

About the Garden

We were formed in 2020 to establish new gardens and pocket parks in the city of Shamokin. We strive to combat food insecurity, and want to give the opportunity for a sustainable option of community engagement.

Our gardens serve as a community space where members can reserve garden beds to grow fruits, vegetables, and/or flowers. We have three separate spaces throughout the city that provide walking access to residents living near these areas and allow a physical space to practice gardening and get involved with the environment and community.

Our Locations

  1. Fifth Ward Garden - 244 South Franklin Street, Shamokin

  2. The Gateway Garden -113 West Sunbury Street, Shamokin

  3. Claude Kehler Park – West Arch Street between Third and Fifth Streets

  4. Market Street Park Blocks (planters)
